This book takes the readers back in time to Lithuania in the 1999s, when everyone was talking about Y2K and the upcoming end of the world. Gilė is fourteen and she knows that there can be different kinds of endings. For her, it’s the end of friendship when she competes with her best friend for the coveted role in the school play. It is also the end of her family, as her parents have recently divorced. Gilė is constantly arguing with her older brother, her dad is too busy with his new family, and her mom meets a strange new man and becomes obsessed with New Age esotericism. Rejected, abandoned, and lonely – what will Gilė do and where will she go so they would see her?
