A boy and his dog Uffe witness the parents’ discussion about how they are going to deal their possessions. They try to sell the news about the impending divorce by  telling him: ”We have decided, to try something new. From now on, you will have two of everythings. Two set grand parents, two birthdays, two Chrismas Eves.” But when they want to impose two dogs, both the boy and Uffe rebel. Uffe is his only real friend, and cannot be replaced. They hide in a in the garden, from where they witness a very symbolic tornado, that splits everything in two.
The last illustration shows the boy and his dog in their new home, where there is only room for one boy and one dog, but where parents may come and visit them.
