The book contains altogether 14 tales in verse written by Milan Rúfus. The author composed the fairy-tales based on the collection of Pavol Dobšinský in a brilliant, poetic way. Similarly to the Brothers Grimm, in the 19th century Pavol Dobšinský collected and retold Slovak folk fairy tales. The poems of Milan Rúfus include typical themes of folk fairy tales: goodness, honesty, and reward for one's work, all of which are present in the works of Pavol Dobšinský as well. The stories are supplemented with dynamic, fantasy and fairytale illustrations of Peter Uchnár. The book was awarded The Most Beautiful Children's Book of Slovakia 2018.
