The Anastasini Circus only performed once in Lodosa, Navarre. It was the day of the coup d'état against the Second Spanish Republic on 18 July 1936. Even if the plan wasn't that, they couldn't perform anymore, because most of the circus members were shot and all their materials and animals stayed there.
Although that's the context, the book doesn't tell the story expressly. High, without mentioning exactly what happened, and focusing on what was created in his family by the advent of the circus, is a child who tells us the story in this album full of poetry. The text is written in the form of testimony, as if the narrator was interviewed and the memories of what happened when she was little were renewed. The protagonist addresses the interviewer, taking the form of an oral account or testimony. The text and the illustrations tell us both together. At the end, the cover of the paper is illustrated, so that we do not forget that the story of the Anastasini Circus was real.
