The centre of attention at Bianca's home is her little brother Alan, who has a heart condition. Bianca does not say a word. Her father thinks she is unmanageable, while her mother thinks she is a girl that requires special treatment. Bianca herself is not sure how she feels or how she should keep her mind still. She would prefer not to belong to anyone. Until one hot afternoon in August, Billie King, her favourite actress, is sitting in the living room, sipping a cup of tea. With Billie King around, she is brave enough to take a decision that will give herself a new meaning to unmanageable. In his inimitable style, the Flemish author Moeyaert creates an oppressive atmosphere, in which smouldering tensions can erupt any moment. A book that will resonate with readers for a long time.
