Once there was a small green stone on a rock in the sea, near the shore. It has been lying there for millennia and observing what is happening around him. But over time, the curiosity grows to leave the place. The next big storm will wash him away. – And whoever will read this picture book can accompany him to the amazing end of the poetic story, in which a child ultimately brings about the decisive turn. Significant, almost philosophical questions are raised and thoughts are stimulated that go far beyond the plot of this short story. Stefanie Harjes՚s pictures inspire this journey of thought by using the surreal elements in the drawings, collages and paper cuttings to emphasize the unrealistic and to tell their own truth, while playing with what is known and familiar. This title is nominated for the 2021 German Children՚s Literature Award.
