Le jour le plus long

Today Charles is 10 years old, it's the beginning of summer, and he's spending his vacations in the countryside with his grandfather. At the end of this memorable day, he has become a "grown-up". The album tells the story of how the little boy, faced with the initiatory trauma of that day when he encountered death and a sense of responsibility, will spend the whole summer overcoming it. And that means discovering the art of drawing, and the hard work involved: it's not easy to draw a bird, so fleeting, so delicate, but what a joy it is to succeed! A moving album that touches the heart, the heart of a child who "feels very small", ashamed and sad, and who manages, discreetly and patiently, to sublimate this misfortune into... a work of art. This is without doubt Ronan Badel's most personal album: with text and images, he excels in conveying, with infinite delicacy, this foundational moment in a child's life... and it's magnificent.
