Where do you live? is the first original Slovenian picture book on architecture, aimed at children aged 4–10. It received the Golden Cube and the Golden Pear awards in 2011. It is a didactic work of fiction that uses the story as a frame for teaching children about architecture. The story is simple: Nejc, a young boy, builds a tree house in his back yard, and is very proud of his achievement. The authors use this story to make the reader aware of the fact that her own home is an architectural object, placed into an architectural space with different house types. They help the child understand how houses are built from the idea to the finished building. They explore different types of homes, parts of buildings, and the building process. Where do you live? is a wonderful didactic tool for parents and teachers who wish to teach their children about ecological principles and cultural diversity. Damijan Stepančič created beautiful illustrations that support and complement the text.
